What is WordCountDesk Word Counter?

WordCountDesk Word Counter is a free online editor that counts words, characters, sentences, paragraphs, syllables and reading time as you type. Unlike many other word counters, it also calculates keyword density, reading level, speaking time and hand-writing time — giving you a complete picture of your text without a single click.

To count words, simply place your cursor in the text box above and start typing. You'll see the numbers update live as you write, delete or edit. You can also paste text from any program straight into the editor. Tip: bookmark this page now — it works offline too.

What does the tool measure?

Keyword Density & Flow Score

The Keyword Density panel shows your top 10 most-used words with a visual bar and percentage. Use the x1, x2, x3 toggles to look for single words, two-word phrases or three-word phrases — useful for SEO without keyword stuffing.

Flow Score highlights sentence-length variety. Good writing mixes short, medium and long sentences; a high score means your rhythm varies nicely. Toggle it on to see colored highlights in the editor.

Auto-save, Goals & Activities

Every keystroke is saved to your browser's local storage, so if you accidentally close the tab, your text will still be here when you return. Set a writing goal (500 words, 1,000 characters, 30 minutes of reading) and watch the progress bar fill. Log daily Activities to build a writing streak.

Privacy

Everything happens locally in your browser. Your text is never uploaded, stored on a server, or shared with anyone. No sign-up, no tracking from us (AdSense may show ads, but they never see your text).
